WHAT IS EASTERN MEDICINE?
Eastern Medicine is a system of treatment which includes numerous, diverse therapies such as acupuncture, herbal medicine, massage/bodywork (tui na), scraping (with a smooth porcelain spoon or similar object), bloodletting and cupping. These therapies have been practiced for literally thousands of years with great effect. Just like any carpenter would have many tools in the tool kit, so does the TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) practitioner use these therapies to repair bodily dysfunction and improve health and wellness.
The World Health Organization (WHO), the National Institute of Health (NIH) and the Veteran’s Administration confirm acupuncture is a viable system of treatment for many ailments. Here is a list of some the conditions for which Eastern Medicine might be an appropriate treatment. Please keep in mind, eastern medicine treatment is considered on a case by case basis. Each patient is respected and perceived as a person with individual needs not objectified as a diagnosis. What might be helpful for one person might not be suited for another.
